Rubbish Collection Carterton, Masterton and South Wairarapa

The rubbish collection system is slightly different between the three councils. Check carefully your rubbish collection day and the system for your location.

Masterton West Tuesday
Masterton South Wednesday
Masterton North Thursday
Masterton East & CBD Friday

Please place your official council rubbish bag at the kerbside by 7.30am on the morning of your collection. You can put out as many official council bags as you require, but remember rubbish put out in other bags will not be collected.  Bags should be securely tied and weigh no more than 15kg, use an additional bag if necessary.

For South Wairarapa residents a weekly collection service is provided by Browns Bins.

Collection Days

Coastal Areas Monday
Greytown Tuesday
Featherston Wednesday
Martinborough Wednesday

Please place your official council rubbish bag at the kerbside by 8.00am on the morning of your collection. You can put out as many official council bags as you require, but remember rubbish put out in other bags will not be collected.  Bags should be securely tied and weigh no more than 10kg, use an additional bag if necessary.

The councils encourage people to reduce the amount of waste that they put into the rubbish bags.  Have a look at the Recycling and  Waste Minimisation sections for more advice on reducing the amount that you need to throw away.

If there is a problem with dogs, cats or other animals ripping open the rubbish bags in your area, please put them at the kerbside in the morning rather than the night before.

Any items such as broken glass or sharp metal objects should be wrapped in several layers of newspaper before being placed in the bag in order to protect the collectors.  Large pieces of broken glass should be taken to the transfer station.

Large volumes or bulky items of rubbish should be taken to the transfer station.
